Jess Meider
It all begins with the first yoga studio in Beijing, The Yoga Yard, where Jess did her teacher training. She has been offering classes there since 2006.
Her teaching combines Flow Hatha Yoga with strong influences from the Five Elements/Meridian Flow, Qigong, Vibrational Yoga, and Yin Yoga. Through movement & stillness, breath practices, listening & vocalization, Jess encourages students to cultivate self-awareness. By connecting more deeply within, students can naturally experience greater connection with the world around them.
Because of Jess's professional career as a singer-songwriter and jazz vocalist, she has naturally found a way to combine her music with her yoga teachings. Her newest offerings include YinChanting Yoga and Experiments in Vibration.
In Yinchanting Yoga, Jess improvises musically to support the students as they experience yin postures. She also uses the drone of the shruti box to support vocal experiences. Through sustained sound and shared vibration, students experience a sense of inner stillness and connection.
Jess's teaching style is warm, encouraging, and empowering. She invites students to move beyond simply practicing yoga toward living the practice. By increasing self-awareness, students can manage balance and emotions, hear and listen to their intuitive voice, and practice kindness, acceptance and harmony both on and off the mat.
Jess has studied with gifted teachers including Sarah Powers (Insight Yoga), Cameron Tukapua (Traditional Chinese Medicine & Five Elements), Matthew Cohen (Hatha Yoga), Max Strom (Breathwork), Mimi Kuo-Deemer, and Robyn Wexler.
